City Of Hancock Recycling Information

 

Hancock Residents:

City crews pick-up recycling items curbside the last Thursday of every month.

  1. Paper or plastic bags can NOT be used to hold recyclables for curbside pickup. Please put recycling materials in a re-usable container with a lid. Both McGann's and Risto's will stock samples of recycling containers for Hancock residents to purchase. They will do special order and offer reduced prices.
  2. All plastics numbered 1-8 can now be recycled.
  3. Remember to thoroughly clean all containers. Stop any contamination!

 

 
 
ACCEPTABLE ITEMS UNACCEPTABLE ITEMS
  • PLASTICS #1 thru #8
  • Aluminum cans, tin cans, jar lids and foil products only
  • Corrugated Cardboard empty/flattened
  • Cereal box type cardboard (remove inner Packaging)empty/flattened
  • Soft drink or beer cartons empty/flattened
  • White boxboard or card stock
  • Newspapers and inserts
  • Magazines and Catalogs
  • Paper bags or other brown paper empty
  • Plastic bags (grocery store bags)empty
  • Gray paperboard, boxboard egg cartons
  • NO STRYOFOAM CARTONS/TRAYS
  • Junk Mail
  • Envelopes (labels and windows OK)
  • Telephone Books
  • Packing Paper (NO Tissue)
  • Soft cover computer manuals
  • Dark colored accordion files
  • Manila file folders
  • Paperback Books
  • Hard Cover Books

 

  • NO GLASS OF ANY KIND
  • NO Styrofoan or Packing peanuts
  • NO Pizza Boxes
  • NO used paper food products plates, cups, etc.
  • NO Paper towels, napkins or tissue paper
  • NO Metal spiral or plastic ring binders
  • NO Candy wrappers or chip bags
  • NO Wax Paper
  • NO Plastic transparencies or photographs
  • NO Brightly colored (fluorescent) paper
  • NO Paper ream wrappers (most are plastic coated)
  • NO Tyvek (reinforced-fiber) or padded brown envelopes w/string closure
  • NO Dark-colored hanging Files
  • NO carbon paper (carbonless is OK)
  • NO plastic food wrappers or Packaging
  • NO Gift Wrap
All recycling must be emptied out of Trash and Paper Bags

ALL ACCEPTABLE RECYCLING MAY BE MIXED

Remove paper clips and staples. Small amounts of tape are OK.

CARDBOARD MUST BE BROKEN DOWN AND FLATTENED

Cost: $4.00 charge per vehicle for all recycling. This must be paid in the Upper Main Office.
