NEW SNOWSHOE TRAIL HEAD
February 1, 2013
The City of Hancock has added a new winter activity option, snowshoeing. A new parking area, just off M203 (Jasberg St.), just a 1/4 mile N of the City Campground, allows trail access to the Maasto Hihtto Swedetown Gorge (River Trail) loop, as well as other west end areas to explore.

City Manager Glenn Anderson out on the Swedetown Creek Trail, which is a groomed trail by the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club (see link above). Stacy Anderson stops for a moment along another portion of the very pretty Gorge Loop. Here along an access trail to the Gorge Loop. A wonderful winter activity located mostly within the Hancock City limits. The River Trail meanders alongside the Swedetown Creek as it passes though the Swedetown Gorge.
A better look at the well defined and groomed trail alongside the Swedetown Creek. A great new resource for winter fun and exercise. Get a pair of snowshoes and join the fun. This map shows the layout and location of the new Snowshoe Trail Head Parking Area and trails.
