The Finnish American Heritage Center is one of the true gems of downtown Hancock with a beautiful interior that's home to many performances and art shows. It's owned and operated by Finlandia University, which is in the midst of an expansion plan for the building to further bring art and Finnish culture to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula. If you'd like to see this project move forward, please visit finlandia.edu. Artist's conception of the completed McAfee Field layout. The proposed new Lions Grandstand is shown at lower right insert, and would be built on the West side of the Field. There may be still a bit of snow on the Field, but there’s fire in the Finlandia University Athletic Department, as a new Football Program is being formed, and big plans are underway. This is Finlandia University's McAfee Field in Hancock. The field will be home of the Finlandia Lions football team beginning in September 2015. Already it is home to many youth and collegiate athletic events. The complete McAfee Field sports complex will include stands, locker rooms, meetings rooms and more inside of a beautiful pavilion. The project is still underway, and there are ways for you to help. Learn more about the project at finlandia.edu.
