LIFEPOINT HOSPITALS PARTNER WITH PORTAGE HEALTH

LifePoint Hospitals, a southern based health organization, that now manages over 60 Hospitals in 20 States, has officially become a partner with Hancockís Portage Health Systems, following an official signing Monday, December 2nd, 2013. (LifePoint also signed agreements with Bell Memorial in Ishpeming earlier in the day). The joint partnership was approved by Michiganís Attorney Generalís Office early Monday morning.

Steve Zutter, Board Chairman, outlines some of the many advantages this partnership will bring to Portage Health and the area, especially through the new major funding being provided to the Foundation Board.
Jeff Seraphine, of LifePointís Eastern Division, outlines some of what the area can expect as a result of this partnership. Some $50-60 million is expected to be spent in the coming years to Portage Health and the charitable Foundation being created. Bill Carpenter, LifePointís CEO, makes his remarks, and stressed how happy they are to enter into this agreement. The Foundation will hold 20% of the Hospital, and LifePoint will hold 80%. Operational responsibility will be a 50/50 agreement.
