American Legion Mid Winter Tour
January 13, 2015
Leaders of Michigan’s American Legion Headquarters, made their Annual MidWinter Tour of Upper Peninsula Posts the second week of January. One of their stops, was to have lunch and meet with members of Hancock’s Alfred Erickson Post 186.
Acting as program M/C, following lunch, was Department Vice Commander, for Zone 5 (the U.P.), Jim Dougovito, from Post 144. First on the program, was the State Commander of the Sons of the American Legion, Harley “Butch” Maxwell, who brought members up to date on the SAL activities. He was followed by The American Legion of Michigan’s Auxiliary President, Nancy Knox. Michigan’s Legion State Commander Jim Wallace, of Post 419, then took the podium, to address the audience. He brought local members up to date on happenings in the Legion state wide, and on expectations the State leaders have for the coming year.
Commander Wallace was then presented with a memento of his U.P. visit, by Post 186 Commander Dan Watrous. The Commander’s wife was not overlooked either, with a souvenir of her visit to the Post also. Also presented with a memento, was the State Auxiliary President, Nancy Knox. The entire visiting group, posed for this photo with post Commander Dan Watrous. It was a good get together, and an informative visit. The Tour visited a number of U.P. Posts and sites on their week long visit.
