Middle School Ground Breaking Ceremony-2008
October 28, 2008
Following voter approval of a bond issue, Hancock Public Schools broke ground for a new Middle School, on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008.
 
The new middle school will be located on property immediately North and adjacent to the new High School. Observing the ceremony are 6th and 7th grade students, who will move to the new school in Dec., 2009. Hancock Public Schools Superintendent John Vaara acts as Master of Ceremonies. Dan LeVeque, VP of Gundlach-Champion Corporation, who will oversee construction, speaks to the crowd.
Hancock City Mayor Barry Givens makes his remarks at the gathering. Finally, invited personages take up shovels and get ready to perform a token ground breaking. And the earth is broken for the 8.9 million dollar project. An October, 2008 view of the current Middle School (formerly the High School), slated to be sold on bids. (It was later acquired by Finlandia University).
