Event Pictorials
November 28, 2015
With only 5" of snowfall for the winter, and balmy temperatures in the mid 20's, a large crowd turned out for Celebrating Christmas Island Style, the 11th Annual Christmas Walk, in the City. The Walk begins at Habanero’s Restaurant, in the former Scott Hotel, and proceeds west to City Hall, led by the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department Fire Truck.
Santa Claus and the Truck reach City Hall, with a large number of youngsters and their parents already waiting to greet and talk with him. Santa always enjoys this ride, but then, everyone likes to ride a fire truck. Turning on the City Christmas Tree lights, he wishes everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The line extends back out for some distance, as they eagerly await their turn with Santa.
There were many free gift items for the youngsters, hats, scarves. And there were goodies and refreshments for all. Santa listens to Alex Schmidt, of Lake Linden, pass along his Christmas morning presents wishes. Alex’s father is Ron Schmidt. New this year to the Celebration, is free dog sled rides for the kids, on the Quincy Green Community lawn. Just enough new snow for a good ride.
From everyone at City Hall, the City Public Works Department, Hancock City Police Department, and the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, all the employees, the very best wishes for a Happy Holiday-2015, and for the New Year.
