Santa visits Hancock - 2009
November 28, 2009
Jolly St. Nick traditionally visits Hancock on Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, to participate in turning on the city Christmas Tree lights, and to hear the children’s wishes for Christmas gifts.
Santa is feted with a tour through town on a City Fire Truck, finally arriving at City Hall/Montezuma Park. Rides are available during the day and evening on the ‘sleigh’, this year towed by tractor due to lack of early snow. After the Tree lighting, Santa is escorted by City Manager Glenn Anderson to City Hall, for cookies and time for visits with the youngsters. Giving Santa her hopes for Christmas, is Mikayla Thomas, age 8, of Allouez. Her Mother is Marie Hyrkas.
There is a good line of hopefuls to see Santa, and get a picture for posterity. What to take and eat? Lots of goodies! Our best Wishes for the Holidays, with a back drop of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity (MTU) home on W. Quincy St.
